I am a teacher and lifelong learner. I taught elementary school for 21 years and college for 24 years. I submitted my last set of grades on May 12, 2023 and took my first trip on May 13. In the first 18 months of retirement, I was out of town more days than I was in town. Since then, I’m averaging 40% of the year out of town, 60% in town. I feel very successful in obtaining and maintaining those three goals.

In this blog, I’m chronicling my trips and my random thoughts about the people, architecture, culture, food, and landscapes that I’m encountering. And…since once a math teacher, always a math teacher…there are sundials, clock towers, measurement devices, and other fun math items documented as well. Whatever strikes me as interesting in the moment gets added to share with friends and family (and to serve as documentation to counter my super power: my great forgetter).
